How to choose the appropriate electroplating processing method?

 如何选择合适的电镀加工方式?

As a very important modern processing technology, electroplating technology has long been not only a means of protection and decoration of metal surfaces, but also can give other functional advantages of metal or non-metal.

According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 60 kinds of industrial coatings available now, including more than 20 kinds of single metal coatings, including almost all commonly used metals or rare and precious metals. There are more than 40 kinds of alloy coatings, but more than 240 kinds of alloys are studied. And according to the actual production situation, different electroplating treatment methods are developed.

The following describes several common electroplating processing methods:

Plating is the process of using the principle of electrolysis to plate a thin layer of other metals or alloys on the surface of certain metals. It is a process that uses electrolysis to attach a layer of metal film to the surface of metal or other materials to protect, decorate and even give special functions.Electroplating is divided into hanging plating, barrel plating, continuous plating and brush plating, etc., mainly related to the size and batch of parts to be plated.

Applicable objects for hanging plating, barrel plating, continuous plating and brush plating

(1) Hanging plating is a process in which the workpiece is clamped on the hanger and is suitable for large parts. The number of products that can be plated in each batch is small and the coating thickness is more than 10μm. Such as car bumpers, bicycle handlebars, etc. Hanging plating production line can be divided into manual line, automatic line.

(2) Continuous plating, in simple terms, is an object uninterrupted according to the process of electroplating, through different plating tank to complete the whole set of electroplating process, suitable for mass production of wire and strip.

(3) Brush plating is a method of selective electroplating with an electrode or brush connected to the anode and capable of providing the electrolyte needed for electroplating, moving on the part as the cathode, which is suitable for local plating or repair.

(4) Barrel plating is usually suitable for small parts. Barrel plating is strictly called barrel plating. It is an electroplating processing method that places a certain number of small parts in a special barrel and deposits various metal or alloy coatings on the surface of the parts in an indirect conductive manner under rolling conditions to achieve surface protection decoration and various functional purposes. According to the different use of rollers, the common barrel plating methods in electroplating production are divided into three categories: horizontal barrel plating, inclined barrel plating and vibration barrel plating.

The above four are common electroplating processing methods, and with the development of technology, electroplating processing methods are diversified. Plating solutions, formulations and additives, electroplating power supplies, etc. are also continuously developed.
